I am delighted to have been invited to lead a discussion with the artists exhibiting in Doublethink, a project curated by Prudence Maltby at APT Gallery, Deptford, 2-12 June 2022. The exhibition presents work by Henny Burnett, David Carruthers, David Dixon, Alex Hanna, Susan Francis and Prudence Maltby. Amongst other things the project discusses how the same visual trigger can produce differing, sometimes opposing, reactions in the viewer. Different environmental observations come into play, from consumption of single use plastic, to memories of woodland located near sectarian fighting in Northern Island in 1980s.
